Toshiba Shipping Notebooks with Windows Vista

Toshiba announced the availability of next-generation notebook computers featuring the Windows Vista operating system, including Toshiba's Port?g? notebook.

To ensure seamless integration, Toshiba and Microsoft collaborated for more than two years to advance mobile hardware designs and showcase Windows Vista innovations, which are implemented on the Portege R400.

As Toshiba's signature notebook computer, the Portege R400 is a statement of both technology and style that incorporates two world's first technologies and a wide range of communications technologies such as Verizon's EV-DO technology1, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and Bluetooth, to fully realize the concept of "anytime and anywhere" computing.

Toshiba's Portege R400 is the world's first notebook computer to incorporate Microsoft's Active Notifications, which allows users the ability to synchronize their e-mail inbox and calendar events, whether the notebook is on or in suspend mode. These notifications can be viewed on the Toshiba "Edge" display which serves as a Personal Information Assistant. This functionality is a direct result of the integration of Windows Vista.
