AMD LIVE!(tm) Enhance Digital Entertainment Experiences

Meeting the needs of today's consumers, the popular AMD LIVE! solution helps them access their digital media virtually anytime, anywhere regardless of file format or device form factor. With the latest solution additions, consumers have more ways to enjoy entertainment throughout the home and on the go.

"The AMD LIVE! family of products and software provides a truly unique media solution to meet a range of consumer needs, from basic multimedia users to savvy audio visual enthusiasts," said Joe Menard, corporate vice president of AMD's Consumer Business. "With our innovative technology, open and flexible platforms, and diverse ecosystem of industry partners, the AMD LIVE! solution takes digital media to an entirely new experience level."

The AMD LIVE! notebook PC powered by AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core mobile technology packs the same powerful media center features as the popular AMD LIVE! desktop PC into a notebook for today's mobile lifestyle. Access to digital media outside the home, plus the ability to manage content or schedule TV program recordings remotely with the AMD LIVE! Entertainment Suite, allows consumers to truly take their media with them to enjoy wherever they go.

"Over the past months Fujitsu Siemens Computers has launched a number of extremely stylish and popular Digital Home PCs and notebooks, featuring enjoyment and ease-of-use. Now we are happy to bring a new era in the design of high-performance consumer notebooks with the AMILO Xa 1526, a fantastic multimedia powerhouse, based on the AMD LIVE! technology," said Herbert Sch?nebeck, vice president Consumer at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "Consumers can expect an unrivaled multimedia experience virtually anywhere they go thanks to the marriage of our stylish notebook PC design with innovative AMD technology."

The AMD LIVE! Home Cinema is a state-of-the-art home entertainment system that consolidates audio visual devices and related remote controls into a simple, all-in-one "living room" solution. Powered by energy-efficient AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processors, it enables an immersive theater-quality media experience with high-definition video, integrated 100 watt per channel surround sound audio and Internet capability in a sleek and stylish CE form factor.

"As a leading consumer electronics company, Westinghouse Digital understands that today's discerning consumer expects an outstanding entertainment experience that is tailored to their individual lifestyle," said Rey Roque, Westinghouse Digital, vice president of Marketing. "We believe that AMD's vision for an all-in-one home theater system will provide consumers with a complete entertainment solution and represents a large step toward the ultimate goal of true digital application convergence."

The AMD LIVE! Home Media Server, powered by Windows Home Server software, is a platform design enabling various OEM systems to help consumers with multiple home PCs to easily store, share and automatically protect their digital media. The AMD LIVE! Home Media Server offers centralized control over functions such as secure back-up of digital media and other critical PC files; parental controls for all devices connected to the home network; printer sharing between multiple PCs; and streaming stored music, videos or television programs to other devices on the network. This platform design also enables support of potential future services such as home security monitoring, telephony and automated home control.

At CES, HP recently announced the HP MediaSmart Server, which incorporates the AMD LIVE! Home Media Server platform design and Microsoft's new Windows Home Server software. The HP MediaSmart Server is designed to help consumers get the most out of their home network by connecting them with digital assets both at home and on the go. The new system, to be offered exclusively at first shipment with AMD 64-bit technology, enables users to access, back up, share and enjoy digital music, home videos and photos from personal computers or entertainment centers (Digital Media Adapter required) on a home network, as well as access their content from Internet-connected computers anywhere in the world.

"As people's digital media continues to grow exponentially, many households are seeking a solution that will allow them to share, protect, access and enjoy their digital media and other PC files," said Maureen Weber, general manager, Personal Storage Business, HP. "The HP MediaSmart Server, powered by AMD technology, is a wonderful home data protection and entertainment solution and will be a welcome addition to many households."

"Our goal with Windows Home Server is to help families with multiple PCs simplify and enhance home computing," said Steven VanRoekel, senior director of Windows Server Solutions at Microsoft. "New OEM devices featuring Microsoft Windows Home Server and the AMD LIVE! Home Media Server design will address the needs of digital households and offer more ways for customers to benefit from AMD LIVE! solutions."

AMD LIVE! PC customers can easily enjoy PC content such as web-based videos and digital photos on their TV with a new active-TV PC feature, providing greater choice and interactivity in entertainment. Using common software tools such as Flash and HTML, consumers can aggregate content into a personal TV-web "channel" and stream it to the TV via active-TV-enabled set-top boxes from manufacturers such as Avtrex, Futarque and Worldsat. AMD LIVE! PCs powered by AMD dual-core technology are ideal for supporting this feature, leveraging the second processor core to format and deliver the TV-web content.

In addition to announcing new PC and CE devices, AMD has expanded the AMD LIVE! Entertainment Suite, a family of practical software applications designed to work with as many devices as possible to enrich the AMD LIVE! experience.

New software applications in the Entertainment Suite include such unique offerings as the AMD LIVE! PodShow TV, AMD LIVE! MyTV ToGo, AMD LIVE! Fusion Tunes, AMD LIVE! MCE Backup, AMD LIVE! TV Genie and AMD LIVE! Digital Courier. The complete AMD LIVE! Entertainment Suite is offered free of charge for AMD customers, along with some optional premium services provided by participating software suppliers. For more information, visit www.amdlive.com.

AMD LIVE! notebooks are expected to be available in Europe from Fujitsu Siemens Computers and MSI starting later this month. Other leading PC manufacturers are expected to introduce AMD LIVE! notebooks worldwide in the near future.

Leading OEMs currently offering AMD LIVE! desktop PCs worldwide include Acer, Alienware, Dell, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Gateway, HP, Tsinghua Tongfang and ZT Group, among others.

The AMD LIVE! Home Cinema and AMD LIVE! Home Media Server are expected to be available from leading manufacturers worldwide later this year.
