ATI Releases Catalyst 6.12 Drivers

The December Catalyst driver update for ATI's Radeon graphics cards has been released and is now available for download.

With this 6.12 release, ATI says it has introduced support for DirectX video acceleration with CrossFire multi-GPU configurations.

Users of some CrossFire systems were previously forced to disable CrossFire in order to use one of their graphics cards to accelerate video.

CrossFire and video acceleration aside, ATI mentions no performance improvements in this particular driver update.

However, a number of bugs were fixed in Black & White 2, Neverwinter Nights, the Catalyst Control Center, and other miscellaneous applications.

Detailed release notes for the new drivers are available here.
