Toshiba Targets Gamers With Three New Notebooks

Toshiba launches three new Satellite P100 models, next-generation high-performance notebooks designed for gaming and multimedia aficionados who want to experience the latest gaming graphics in a highly portable notebook computer.

Available exclusively from ToshibaDirect.com, the new Satellite P100 notebooks consist of three models -- the Satellite P100-ST9012, Satellite P100-ST9412 and Satellite P100-ST9612. All three Satellite P100 models feature a 17-inch diagonal widescreen display in a 7.1-pound, 1.41-inch slim notebook chassis and the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX graphics card, delivering stunning graphics for the hottest 3D games and multimedia programs. Prices start at $1,999

The notebooks also include the latest IntelCore Duo Processors that reduce power consumption while boosting overall performance from graphics to wireless capabilities, as well as a DVI-D output port to allow users to connect to an HDTV.

For multimedia ease of use, the three new Satellite P100 notebooks include an Express Media Player consumer infrared remote control that gives users access to power, CD, DVD, volume and other multimedia functions without booting up the Windows operating system. The slim remote is stored in the PC card slot of the notebook.

The three new Satellite P100 notebooks include features such as a fingerprint reader for one-touch secure access management as well as a customizable Dual Mode touch pad that can provide one-tap short cuts to launch e-mail, an Internet browser and other selected programs.

Other highlights of the three new Satellite P100 models include:

-- a DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive that reads and writes in up to 11 formats that can nearly double a recordable DVD's storage capacity for photo, music and video files in either DVD+R or DVD-R double layer formats;
-- 5-in-1 bridge media adapter for easy file sharing and downloads;
-- built-in harman/kardon stereo speakers;
-- TruBrite technology from Toshiba for a clear display;
-- updated Mobile Intel 945 Express chipset and the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 ABG network connection as part of Intel Centrino Mobile Technology;
-- Microsoft Windows XP Professional operating system.

In addition to the DVI-D output port, the three new Satellite P100 notebooks include four USB 2.0 ports, TV-Out (S-Video), iLINK(TM) IEEE 1394, RGB, RJ-11 modem (v.92), RJ-45 LAN, S/P DIF output port (shared with the headphone port) and microphone port. The new Satellite P100 notebook chassis dimensions are 15.5 by 10.8 by 1.41 inches.

The new Satellite P100 notebooks come with a standard one-year limited warranty. The standard limited warranty includes carry-in support at Authorized Service Providers throughout the country, or the customer may use any of the more than 3,000 UPS Stores for packaging and delivery of the product to a centralized depot for prompt service turnaround. Customers can also choose to upgrade the notebook's service plans, including up to four years of extended service plans.

To help stay connected while traveling, the Satellite P100 notebooks integrate Toshiba ConfigFree software, the company's graphic connectivity management utility for optimum wireless access.

Included Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 software enables users to better capture, organize, find and share notes gathered from e-mail, meetings, presentations, classes, the Web and other sources. OneNote captures virtually any type of information -- ranging from typed notes to audio -- in a single convenient place.

All new Toshiba Satellite notebooks are RoHS-compatible. The new Satellite P100 notebooks are currently available from ToshibaDirect (www.toshibadirect.com).
