Three New LCDs from NEC

NEC LCD Technologies introduced on Monday three new amorphous silicon thin-film-transistor (TFT) liquid crystal display (LCD) samples.

The new products include an 8.4-inch super video graphics array (SVGA) TFT LCD module, the NL8060BC21-03, an 8.4-inch video graphics array (VGA) TFT LCD module, the NL6448BC26-09C model and a 6.5-inch video graphics array (VGA) TFT LCD module, part number NL6448BC20-20.

All three new LCD modules feature NEC LCD Technologies' proprietary super-transmissive natural light TFT (ST-NLT) technology that achieves display of vivid colors in environments with high ambient light, enabled by 50% added brightness compared to other models, claims NEC.

In addition, the new LCDs boast a wide operating-temperature range of -10 degrees Celsius to +70 degrees Celsius (the NL6448BC26-09C support -20 degrees Celsius to +70 degrees Celsius).

The 8.4-inch NL8060BC21-03 model boasts 800(H) x 600(V) pixels a 650cd/m2 luminance and a contrast ratio of 600:1. The 8.4-inch NL6448BC26-09C features 640(H) x 480(V) pixels, a luminance of 700cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 600:1. Finally, the 6.5-inch NL6448BC20-20 model has 640(H) x 480(V) pixels, a luminance of 650cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 600:1.

All three new models will be displayed at Display 2006, which is being held in Tokyo Big Sight, Japan, between April 19 and 21. All three products will be available by the end ofJune 2006. No prices were mentionned.
