Elta's New DVD player Certified for Nero Digital

Nero and elta have announced the certification of a new MPEG-4 DVD player for Nero Digital compression technology.

The 8815 MP4 from elta supports playback of all video formats that have been compressed using Nero Digital technology. The DVD player will be available in stores from February 2006 and will cost less than ?60 incl. VAT.

The Nero Digital system is designed to help users create videos on PC and burn them to DVD for use in a home cinema ? effortlessly and with maximum quality. The software compresses the files to up to 20 percent of their original size, which means that one DVD can hold many hours of moving pictures and sound.

The Nero Digital audio and video compression system was codeveloped by Nero AG and ATEME, the specialist for multimedia algorithms. The software is a non-proprietary enhancement of MPEG4 and offers many DVD-like features such as AAC audio tracks, surround sound, chapters, and subtitles.

The 8815 MP4 from elta comes with a CD containing test versions of three further Nero programs: Nero Recode, which facilitates the direct import of video file formats and non-copy protected DVDs for coding and/or transcoding in Nero Digital; Nero ShowTime, which plays all digital recordings (films, TV programs, home movies and DVD formats) in excellent picture and sound quality; and finally Nero MediaHome, which allows users to stream videos, music and pictures.
