Ashampoo GmbH & Co. KG released an update for its Burning Studio 5 adding support for Blu-Ray.

Technology enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that the new version adds full support for Blu-ray discs. Along with the ususal support for CD/DVD data and video recoding functions, Ashampoo Burning Studio 5.5 allows creation of Blu-Ray data discs, and erase fuctions for BD-RE media. The company will also consider supporting Blu-Ray video as soon as the Blu-Ray Association finalize the format specifications. Nero, Roxio and other software manufacturers are also expecting the green light from the BDA in order to upgrade their software packages with more Blu-Ray related functions.

Ashampoo Burning Studio 5 integrates recording of Blu-ray discs in a similar way just like in case of CDs and DVDs. The software is rather user-friendly and simplifies the various supported tasks by displaying to users only the essential information required for each task. For example, user does not have to select the type of the disc he wants to burn. He simply inserts any medium and the program automatically detects the type and takes care of the rest.

The Burning Studio V5.5 update is free for all owners of Ashampoo Burning Studio 5.
