ASUS PVL-D Serverboard Incorporates Two Dual-Core Xeons

ASUS' PVL-D Series serverboards support the latest Intel dual-core, hyper-threaded Xeon DP (Paxville) processor with a two-processor platform to deliver the power of eight CPU threads.

The PVL-D Series support a dual-Xeon DP dual-core processor platform with Hyper-Threading Technology, independent 2M L2 cache for each CPU core and 800MHz system bus. The serverboards further leveraged advanced 64-bit computing, which provides 16GB of memory address, to deliver another 46% system performance increase compared to conventional solutions, according to the company.

The motherboard also features a streamline designs for the memory slots, Northbridge and power supply unit connectors (located on the side), in order to maximize airflow and ventilation within the system. The CPU and VRM (voltage regulation modules) are located at the center of the boards, allowing the fans to aim directly at the critical components for efficient cooling.

With one PCI Express x8 slot, two PCI 32bit/33MHz slots, four PCI-X 64bit/133 slots, and one SODIMM ZCR RAID 5 socket (on ly PVL-D/1U), the serverboards offer expandability for future business growth. To ensure data safety, they incorporated RAID 0, 1, 10 on Windows, Redhat and Netware for complete driver support, and additional OS/data integrity protection as well as cost-effective Hardware RAID 5 upgrade from SODIMM ZCR.

With dual-PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet, the Asus' flagship solution for server network connection, is capable of higher bandwidth aggregation and reliable networking based on failover and load balance function s .
