Hitachi Maxell Ships New Digital Pen

Hitachi Maxell, Ltd. has initiated shipments of the "DP-201," a new digital pen product capable of converting analog information such as handwritten characters, illustrations and drawings into digital data.

Hitachi Maxell integrated optical components into a compact module and reduced the size of electronic components and a circuit board. As a result, the company succeeded in reducing the width by about 15% and the weight by about 20%, compared to the previous "DP-101U/B." The digital pen is equipped with both USB and Bluetooth interfaces for connection with PCs and mobile products. The battery charger, which also functions as a USB interface, is cradle type so users insert the pen with ease as if using a pen stand.

Key specifications:

- Weight: 30 g
- Dimensions: 157 x 21 x 18 mm
- Connectivity: USB1.1/2.0, Bluetooth 1.2
- Operation time: more than 2 hours (continuous writing mode), 10hrs (standby mode)
- Power: Li-ion battery, AC adapter through USB
