Sony Recalls 16,000 LCDs

Sony is recalling 16,000 liquid crystal display (LCD) televisions sold in Japan.

The 28-inch LCD sets sold between November 2003 and May 2005 have a design fault that could cause an electric discharge. Several incidents have been reported but no injuries, the company said.

Japanese press reports citing company sources put the cost of the recall, which is rare for an advanced electronics product, at $3.6 million.
