SunnComm Announces Commercial Use of Copy Protection for Audio CDs

SunnComm International announced that it has received production approval from several of its largest record label clients to include MediaMax (V.5) on its copy protected CDs.

SunnComm is the creator of MediaMax(TM), America's best-selling content protection technology for audio compact discs (CDs).

SunnComm's president, Peter Jacobs stated, "Our latest version of MediaMax is the best CD copy management technology available today and the fact that we're North America's leading supplier of CD copy protection proves it."

MediaMax is the first content protection and enhancement product to include SecureBurn(TM) -- a feature which restricts the consumer's ability to make "a copy of a copy." In addition, SunnComm's newest technology incorporates Track-Level Protection(TM) which enables consumers to mix content protected tracks with unprotected tracks, such as music in MP3 format, on the same CD.

SunnComm is also the first company to deliver CDs utilizing its proprietary On-the-Fly Technology(TM), which allows the original uncompressed music on a CD to be encoded with the required DRM security information and delivered "on-the-fly." This provides flexibility when implemented in real-world situations where CD storage space, time and internet bandwidth are all at a premium. It also eliminates the possibility that duplicate royalties may be due for songs on the audio portion of the CD as well as for the second, duplicated copy-protected version of the same songs which, until now, were required to be incorporated on the same CD.
