Elpida Memory today announced plans to support demand for XDR(TM) DRAM for the Playstation 3 from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.

Elpida announced sample availability of its ultra-high-speed 512 Megabit XDR DRAM in March 2005. The primary market for the XDR DRAM architecture is high-performance gaming consoles due to its ability to support high-end graphics and advanced digital imaging. It is also suitable for additional applications including home servers and high-definition television.
