Sonic to Provide MyDVD for HP DVD-Writers

Sonic Solutions announced today that it will provide Hewlett-Packard Company with Sonic's MyDVD software for recording and authoring DVD-Videos. Under an agreement between the two companies, Sonic will be the exclusive supplier of DVD-video authoring software to be bundled with HP's DVD+RW drive, which is expected to ship later this summer.

``HP's DVD-writer, along with Sonic's MyDVD software, will allow consumers to create their own custom DVD-Video discs with unprecedented speed and ease of use,'' said Robert J. Doris, president of Sonic Solutions. ``HP is the clear market leader in recordable CD drives, and we are delighted to be collaborating with them to deliver a breakthrough video solution with their upcoming DVD+RW drives.''

``Our experience and success with CD-writers has allowed HP to become very close to the digital entertainment consumer and their emerging needs to do more with video and music,'' said John Spofford, vice president and general manager of HP's Colorado Personal Storage Solutions division. ``With Sonic's help, we can offer customers an easy-to-use video creation solution that will allow them to enhance and share their home videos.''
