Toshiba announces affordable Satellite M35X notebook with new features


Priced at $999, Satellite M35X-S163 15.4-Inch Diagonal Wide-Screen Notebook Designed as High-Quality Entry-Level Mobile Computer

Toshiba's Digital Products Division, a division of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. introduced the Satellite(R) M35X-S163 notebook, designed as a high-quality, affordable mobile computer for first-time mobile computer buyers, students and home office workers.

Priced at $999, the Satellite M35X-S163 incorporates today's "must have" notebook features, including a 15.4-inch diagonal widescreen display, a FireWire port for fast transfer of files from a camcorder, a powerful mobile processor for enhanced battery life (1.4GHz Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor 360), three USB 2.0 ports for quick transfer of digital photos or MP3 files, and 60GB(3) hard drive for ample file storage.

The product also features integrated 802.11 b/g wireless, a fixed-bay DVD/CD-RW player, 512MB of memory, Intel Extreme Graphics and Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home operating system. Microsoft Windows XP Professional is available with otherwise identical specifications in the Satellite M35X-S1631.

The Satellite M35X-S163 and Satellite M35X-S1631 are available with either 1- or 3-year limited warranties with Toshiba's premier global service for the mobile computing user. Customers can choose from several service options, including carry-in support at Authorized Service Providers throughout the country for same-day or next-day service, or utilizing any of more than 3,000 UPS Stores for packaging and delivery of the product to a centralized Depot for 24-hour service turnaround.

Toshiba also offers Ask Iris(R) Online, an instant response information service that alerts users to security software patches and provides other information regarding their product from Toshiba engineers and technical support staff.

The Satellite M35X-S163 comes installed with a 30-day free trial of MyConnect(TM) Internet Access Service which provides notebook computer users unlimited Internet access in hotels, airports, restaurants, bookstores, etc. via Wi-Fi, broadband cable, DSL or dial-up connection.
