MPEG LA Announces Opening of Tokyo Office

MPEG LA today officially opened its MPEG LA (UK) Ltd. Office in Tokyo, Japan.

The Tokyo office is one more step towards MPEG LA providing customer service and liaison to MPEG LA's many customers in Asia. MPEG LA pioneered one-stop technology patent licensing services worldwide and has a large current customer base in the Asia region.

"Since its founding, MPEG LA has had roots in the region through our strong partnerships with leading patent holders, product manufacturers and service providers," said MPEG LA, LLC CEO Baryn S. Futa. "It is the cradle of consumer electronics product innovation. We are honored to have a presence there befitting of that relationship."

MPEG LA is the world leader in one-stop technology platform patent licenses, enabling users to acquire patent rights necessary for a particular technology standard or platform from multiple patent holders in a single transaction as an alternative to negotiating separate licenses. Wherever an independently administered one-stop patent license would provide a convenient marketplace alternative to assist users with implementation of their technology choices, the licensing model pioneered and employed by MPEG LA may provide a solution. Currently MPEG LA licenses portfolios of essential patents for leading international standards consisting of patents owned by companies in Japan and Korea, and licensees in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand, among other countries. See www.mpegla.com for more information. The Tokyo office, located at A-302 Unimat Bleu Cinq Point, 5-3-22 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo, will allow MPEG LA to better serve its customers.
