Sensory Science Introduces New High Definition Video Processor From California Audio Labs

Cal Audio Introduces High Performance Solution to Video Processing And Switching - CL-2500 VP Brings New Level of Video Performance and Flexibility To Home Theater

Sensory Science Corporation today announced it is introducing the new CL-2500 Video Processor from California Audio Labs, a videophile-quality home theater component functioning as both an HDTV-ready video switcher as well as video processor, raising the standard in home theater performance and operation.

The new Cal Audio CL-2500 VP, which replaces the CL-2500 Video Switch, contains the ability to de-interlace and line double, triple, or quadruple any NTSC video input source using its integrated scaling technology. As an example, the CL-2500 VP can output a conventional 480i DVD at 480p, 720p, or 960p, in either 4:3 or 16:9 formats, for maximum versatility.

When used as a video switch, the CL-2500 VP provides direct signal pass through of all video sources, including 1080i (HDTV), with no format conversion or scaling. The CL-2500 VP also boasts 100MHz of video bandwidth for maximum performance in handling the high scan rate video signals of any of todays and tomorrows planned digital television signals. This is achieved by optimizing the signal paths between inputs and outputs, using BNC connections and passive analog switching, dual power supplies, independent transformers, and a filtered IEC AC line connector.

Targeted toward the growing high-definition TV market, the CL-2500 VP supports all popular TV brands, as well as plasma screens and multi-sync computer monitors. This unique component provides a memorable viewing experience from virtually any source material, improving images from VCRs, DVDs, satellite receivers, digital still cameras, digital or analog camcorders and cable boxes, while supporting advanced extended definition and high definition television signals from HDTV set top boxes. The CL-2500 VP is also perfect for corporate conference room environments and custom home theater installations.

``The introduction of the new video processor to the CL-2500 Series system provides home theater enthusiasts with unprecedented scalability, creating uncompromising video quality that should satisfy even the most highly discerning eyes,'' said Paul Fredrickson, Sensory Science's executive vice president of marketing. ``We've engineered the new CL-2500 VP to work seamlessly with virtually all home theater systems, benefiting both dealers and members of the custom installer community. When used as part of the Cal CL-2500 Series system, we firmly believe that videophiles now have the complete home theater package.''

This revolutionary new home theater component complements the entire CL-2500 Series system, which in addition to the CL-2500 VP is comprised of:

-- The CL-2500 SSP audiophile-quality surround sound processor and controller
-- The CL-2500 MCA five-channel 500-watt per channel amplifier featuring Cal's revolutionary zero voltage transition power supply, and
-- The CL-2500 DVD, which can up-sample any audio CD to playback at 88.2 or 96k to further enhance audio quality

CALNET RS-232 Interfacing Provides Seamless Communications Throughout CL-2500 Series System

The Cal Audio CL-2500 VP is equipped with the CALNET RS-232 serial interface for compatibility with today's growing base of home networking products, such as Panja and Crestron systems, as well as allowing for instant two-way communications between all CL-2500 Series components.

Each of the CL-2500 Series components is designed to work within other systems, however when networked together the components achieve an unparalleled simplicity of operation. Sensory Science continues to be a pioneer in the development of networked consumer electronic devices in the home. CL-2500 VP Boasts State-of-the-Art Silicon Using Genesis Microchips

The Cal Audio CL-2500 VP uses a feature-packed chipset from Genesis Microchip, consisting of highly integrated IC's for television, DVD, and home theater applications. The chipset offers advanced vertical-temporal video de-interlacing and an advanced image scaling engine, as well as an adaptive film mode capability. The chipset also enables gamma correction via programmable 10-bit video lookup tables, and a built-in display controller and color space converter.

The CL-2500 Series system's software enables complete programming from a laptop or PC, as well as with the simple turn of a dial. The CL-2500 SSP, which acts to control the entire system, is operated by a Cal Audio-customized version of the Philips Pronto remote control, which offers virtually unlimited versatility and LCD touch screen operation through custom programming on the Windows CE platform. The CL 2500 SSP can also fully control all Cal Audio legacy source components, such as single CD players and multiple CD changers, DVD players and even active channels of the CL 2500 multi-channel amplifier.

A host of video sources and other components can be connected to the CL-2500 VP; the unit sports two component inputs, seven S-video or composite inputs, an RGBVH output and two different zone outputs.

In addition to the release of the Cal Audio Video Processor, Sensory Science is offering existing owners of the CL-2500 system a CD-rom that updates the communication path to the CL-2500 SSP, as well as a software update for the Pronto remote control and new users guides for both the Pronto and the CL-2500 SSP.

The new CL-2500 VP retails for $2,500 and is shipping now to Sensory Science's network of more than 450 high-end A/V retailers throughout the United States.
