Kodak overtakes Sony in U.S. digital camera shipments


Eastman Kodak Co overtook Sony Corp in digital camera shipments in the United States in 2004, research firm International Digital Corp said Wednesday.

Kodak boosted digital camera shipments 66% from the previous year to 4.88 million units, expanding its U.S. market share 4.0 percentage points to 21.9%, IDC said. Sony, which had long remained the front runner, also increased shipments 21.5% to 4.33 million units, but its market share fell 2.3 points to 19.4%
