According to DigiTimes, CMC Magnetics stated its gross margins slipped further to 13.6% in the third quarter, down from 28.3% in the second quarter and 35.9% in the first quarter of this year.
The continued drop in quarterly revenues and operating profits were mainly due to falling OEM prices of CD-R and DVD discs, CMC pointed out. The drastic decrease in profits last quarter was also due to increased prices of polycarbonate (PC), a key component of optical discs, the company added.
