Toshiba Announces New Satellite'R' Notebooks with 17 and 15.4"

The New Satellite P35 Series and Satellite M35X-S149 Provides Consumers with the Capabilities of a Desktop Computer Packaged in a Portable, Newly Designed Wide-Screen Format

Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD) today introduced the new Satellite P35 Series and the Satellite M35X-S149 wide-screen notebook PCs. The new notebooks offer consumers, families and students the performance capabilities of a full-featured notebook PC at an attractive price. Packaged in a newly designed chassis, the Satellite P35 Series, launching with two versions, the Satellite P35-S629 and the Satellite P35-S609, replaces the award-winning Satellite P25 Series and is Toshiba's first notebook to feature a 100GB(1) hard disk drive. The affordable Satellite M35X-S149 includes a 15.4-inch display providing users with enough screen real estate to easily multitask or watch movies.

"Our customers are using their notebooks for more than just email or surfing the Internet - they're also using it for entertainment purposes," said Taro Hiyama, vice president of marketing for Toshiba's Digital Products Division. "Toshiba designed the new Satellite P35 and Satellite M35X Series of notebooks to deliver popular widescreen technology to consumers that may not have previously been able to afford it."

The new notebook PCs are fully loaded with SRS(R) TruSurround(TM) sound technology(2) and built-in stereo speakers providing customers with an enhanced audio experience while watching DVDs. All three Satellites also include built in Wi-Fi(TM) (802.11b/g) wireless connectivity(3) so users can easily surf the web at home, on a wireless campus or at a local public hotspot.

Satellite P35 Series

The Satellite P35 Series features two notebook PCs with options for digital media enthusiasts with any budget. The Satellite P35 S629 is Toshiba's first notebook PC to feature a 100GB(1) hard disk drive. Couple the huge storage capacity with a DVD SuperMulti drive that supports both DVD +/- formats and DVD-RAM with an Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 processor supporting Hyper-Threading Technology(4) and users have a mobile multi-media computer perfect for gaming, movies and more.

Using the standard 5-in-1 bridge media adapter digital media enthusiasts can read and transfer files from a Secure Digital(TM), Multimedia Card, Memory Stick or XD media card quickly and easily. And instant play keys can begin a movie or CD with a simple touch of a button.

Satellite M35X-S149

The new Satellite M35X-S149 is fully equipped with the tools that a first time notebook user needs including an Intel Celeron(TM) M processor, large hard disk drive and plenty of memory. The notebook comes with a DVD/CD-RW and integrated ATI Graphics, so users can watch movies or play video games on the large 15.4-inch diagonal widescreen display while enjoying increased graphics performance. In addition, the notebook's TV (S-Video) out capabilities enables users to hook up their notebook to an external display to create a larger-than-life entertainment experience.

Pre-Loaded Troubleshooting Software

Toshiba's ConfigFree(TM) software comes standard on all Toshiba wireless enabled notebook PCs. The software allows users to quickly connect to wireless hotspots, Wi-Fi enabled equipment and other wireless networks. ConfigFree allow simple control of wireless communication devices and automatic detection of available network connections. Also included is Toshiba's PC Diagnostic(TM) software which helps users to troubleshoot technical issues and offers suggestions to resolve the situation.

Remote Internet Access Made Easy

MyConnect(TM) Internet Access Service from Toshiba provides a single monthly unlimited service plan for mobile notebook users to stay connected to the Internet with Wi-Fi, dial-up, or Ethernet access. Available at over 20,000 access points in major airports, hotels, and public locations in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia. Connectivity is made by using one easy-to-use user interface that provides a simple way to stay connected for work or for pleasure. Monthly Unlimited Access Plans are priced at $39.95.

Toshiba Services Options Protect Your Investment

Toshiba offers a wide array of services options to help customers protect their technology investment. All Toshiba notebooks are eligible for optional SystemGuard(R) accidental damage coverage, providing repair of damage caused by spills, drops and other accidents at no additional cost. The ServiceExpress program provides customers with a high priority depot or carry-in repair to ensure a quick turnaround. And for added convenience, Toshiba offers At-Home service where a Toshiba-trained technician will arrive directly at a customer's home to perform the necessary hardware repairs. 1. 1 Gigabyte (GB) means 1000 x 1000 x 1000 = 1,000,000,000 bytes using powers of 10. The computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1 GB = 1024 x 1024 x 1024 = 1,073,741,824 bytes, and therefore may show less storage capacity. Available storage capacity will also be less if the product includes one or more pre-installed operating systems, such as Microsoft Operating System and/or pre-installed software applications, or media content. Actual formatted capacity may vary.

2. SRS TruSurround XT is available only when using WinDVD applications. SRS WOW is available only when using Windows Media Player.

3. Wireless connectivity and some features may require you to purchase additional software, services or external hardware.

4. Hyper-Threading Technology requires a computer system with an Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 processor supporting HT Technology and a Hyper-Threading Technology enabled chipset, BIOS and operating system. Performance will vary depending on the specific hardware and software you use. See http://www.intel.com/info/hyperthreading/ for more information including details on which processors support HT Technology.

5. Central Processing Unit (CPU) performance may vary depending on conditions; see specifications for details.

6. Reseller prices may vary. ESUP means "Estimated Single Unit Price." All specifications, software, prices and are subject to change without notice.
