NEC announces LSI chipset for HD-DVD recorders!

NEC Japan announced today a new LSI chipset for 2X recording/reading of HD-DVD discs with PC/stand alone drives...

The following text comes from Japanese translation so there will be errors:

"...In the company, a "digital lead channel" with a high-speed AD translation machine, the Viterbi (BITABI) detection machine optimized so that the digital phase synchronous loop (PLL) circuit of realizing stable high-speed record / reproduction, and an ETM record mark could be reproduced in high quality is developed. It corresponded to 2Xmax record and reproduction of HD DVD.

Moreover, the company is able to use it combining the present system LSI for a DVD record drive "muPC3335" and "muPD63635" which were put on the market in June. It is possible for LSI developed this time to bear coding/decryption of a HD DVD record signal, and to bear the ATAPI host interface function for connecting with the digital-servo function in which "muPC3335" and "muPD63635" control coding/decryption of the record signal of CD and DVD, and the position of a pickup, a personal computer, etc.

Furthermore, it can move at high speed between Buffers RAM through the buffer RAM interface block which also built in the data transfer function of exclusive use and built the data for HD DVD in "muPD63635." By these functions, it is said that the HD DVD system also corresponding to record and reproduction of the present CD/DVD media can be built easily.

The background of development in the company "the next-generation DVD system market thought that it rose from 2007 also in 2008, and it developed. It is being explained that I brought forward commercial production of the application product of a next-generation DVD system, and think that it contributes to the standup of a market."..."
