GeForce 6600 on it's way

NVidia boss Jen Hsun Huang announced the technological capabilities of the 6600 VGA card based on GeForce 6 series. This model is to be the only one of its class with Shader Model 3.0 support designed for PCI express boards.

The NV43 GPU manufactured in 110nm process technology, and it will be available from the end of of September on the market. Presumably the NV43 possesses eight pipelines and lies performance-moderately somewhat below a GeForce 6800 with twelve Pipes and 325/350 MHz.

It is not clear yet, which models will have the NV43 GPU. A chinese website posted some information about the Top model of the GeForce 6600. It's clock frequencies will be 425 MHz chip for it's core and 900MHz for it's memory. The GDR SDRAM memory broad interface is to be addressed via a 256bit interface, which promises a comparatively high performance for the 200 euro estimated price.
