How hot is too hot for my SCSI disc drive?

Drive temperature specifications are carefully calculated to provide optimal drive operation throughout the life of the drive.

Operating the drive at temperatures over the maximum case temperature of 60 degrees C, as specified in Table 3, column 1, may cause the drive to fail to meet specifications, up to and including drive failure. Case temperatures over 45 degrees C will degrade the MTBF. If your system is unable to sustain these temperature ranges, contact your system manufacturer for information on cooling and ventilation systems that will be compatible with your specific configuration.
