Adaptec Easy CD 4.02 patch

I tried to load the upgrade from 4.0 to 4.02, but it fails with a crazy message that it can't find a file, but found a file of the same name so no update was installed.A message comes up about half way through the patch. When you hit the OK button, the patch procedure exits. This same patch worked on my previous installation of WIn 98SE/ECDC 4.

Check if you have Windows Media Player 7 on your system.This is known to conflict with Adaptec's software,mainly DirectCD, even though the engine in Media Player 7 is Adaptecs
