After upgrading to the new version of Nero, I ended up with 3 bad burns in a row (using different media) using Nero Recode. Everything was fine up until the actual burning process started, when the burn process failed almost immediately. I uninstalled the new Recode and installed the previous version. I'm going to give it another go tonight and see what happens. I was just wondering if anyone else had encountered any issues.

Why don't you try to burn the same project using Nero Burning Rom? This way you'll see if it is the software or the compilation.

I can't. It's a DVD that needs to be recompiled using Recode to fit on a single layer disc. I guess I could use DVD Shrink and see if it burns with that. If it burns OK tonight with the older version of Recode (that is, if the Recode version is in fact updated - Nero is skimpy on the details of what's changed), then I guess that's my answer. If not, then I'll give it a go using DVD Shrink instead...

Well, I tried a couple of things:

1) I reverted to the complete prior package: Nero 6.6.0.3 and NVE30114. Burned fine.

2) I tired Nero 6.6.0.5 and the older NVE30114. Same problem as before.

3) I tried nero 6.6.0.3 and hte new NVE30118. Same problems.

Strange that I could not isolate the problem to either the new Burning engine or the new Recode version, but perhaps there are problems with both, or they just are mis-matched. Looks like I'll be staying with the older versions for awhile.

I'm experiencing the same problem. Recode in version 6.6.0.3 works every time, recode in version 6.6.0.5 fails every time.

A bug or two, yes: http://www.cdrinfo.com/forum/tm.asp?m=97036

Typical early/bad point release - unless you feel like being a beta tester, better to stay with the last of the 6.3 series... 6.3.1.25 is available on the Nero ftp's, and is a lot more solid ... what do you want, a few new features, or a lot less bugs?

Much agreed Matthew, I've removed the latest release and went back to 6.6.0.3 myself.. I don't need a bug nightmare.
