I mean, there must be something about it that you can not download it from the european lite-on website and that the newest firmware there is BS0S.

Yes, it would work fine with your burner, LiteOn has removed it from it's America's website right now, pending release of BS42, or perhaps... they are upset that everyone was downloading it, slowing perhaps the sale of the 1653's (the 1653 will not be released in the US).

A known bug, having supposedly featured 4x DL, they forgot to enable it on ANY of the DL media codes.

CS09 (1653S) also seems to be winning some friends - the only real advantage of a the 1633S "BS4x" is that you can load it without crossflashing tweaks, and it still turns the 1633S into a 1653S in all but name.

So after hearing nothing but good things I decided to update my 1633 BSOS to BS41...
Now the funny part is coming...

I wrote 3 DVD's today ALL unreadable and bad, when I was burning the second DVD at the end the burner started to make an incredeible noice that I thought my PC was gonne set fire.
I immediately pulled the plug and restarted, Same thing , after a few minutes of burning my 1633 started to make together with the inserted DVD again an incredeible noice like he was eating the DVD.

So now I think my 1633 is F**ked UP and I will have to bring it back to the store to replace it.

All this because of a bloody firmware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never again am I installing a firmware that is not directly from Lite-on Europe!

It's not the firmware. More than likely this is a media issue. I have burned MANY MANY DVD's with this firmware
