Hi, my friend were able to hack into my Router... I just want to know how he done it. He were able to find out my password at the login page(192.168.1.1) and login. I have a Linksys Wireless G Router 54mbps.

Anybody have any idea? is there like a program that you can download to crack my password or something? or did he found out the password by reading(monitoring) my packets? But I don't think I have type in that password nor accessed that login page for a while.

just simple reset the router, and you have the default login details, mostly the reset switch is in de backside of the router press the switch then the router reboots with the factory settings, good luck

True, but he did it without resetting the Router though...which is what interested me.

Almost "all" routers have the same IP address to that specific router. I will not try to give this information out, as it could be damaging to alot of people, however, if you have a specific router address, it is SO EXTREMELY easy to access the bios and presto, you have the password in a matter of only seconds. You should protect your router IP with a firewall, that does not allow access. Simply adding a firewall does not do it, you will have to edit the firewall and add the IP of the router itself, in addition to your real IP.

Windows remembers passwords for quite some time - if the deed was done from YOUR PC as uised to log in and administer it normally - then I suspect it may just have opened the door for him.

The private address of a router is also not much use to anyone outside the network.

Which reminds me, unless you have a real need to use remote configuration from outside, DO NOT ALLOW IT
