Controversial, but at least it's free...

Automatically "guarding" a certain amount of free memory just aggravates any memory shortage.

Freeing RAM (by forcing useless/useful content to be paged out) on demand, before a memory heavy task may help

I agree...and if my memory serves me well...we talked about similar issues awhile ago......but...the point is...that the program is NEW...and most importantly its FREE...so its up to each individual to decide whether to give it a try or not...

And Yes...its still better to have Gig or two of RAM more installed..than to trying to do miracles with this program on a machine with some 256MBs...

I had this on my daughter's computer (P4 2.8Ghz, 512K RAM) and it seemed to cause problems. It would really do me no good to try on my P4 3.2 HT, 3 GB RAM... But in the same light, I have a friend that uses it, and he swears it is the best thing since buttered cornbread.

Always stirs up a hornet's nest on "alt.comp.freeware" as well .... yes, I seem to remember saying that, probably when the last version came out.

It's free, and since it's not been known to cause any permanent damage, I'd give it the good old HGG classification of "Mostly harmless"

Hahahahaha....You all made me laugh sooo much...appreciate that...cause in those strange times around the world...there is nothing than a good laugh...it calms down...produces some good hormons to help increase overall health...so all in one...very positive thing to do on a daily basis...

Just one question MP3...You could at least buy Your daughter at least 128Mb (if buying her 3Gb like You have would be too much to offer her )...BECAUSE....having 512K of Ram on 2.8Ghz machine....huhhhhh...tough one...You (or she) shall be VERY HAPPY it even boots...so since Windows by default allocates 1.5 amount of physical ram for page file...I guess thats an extra 768K....tottaling 1280K or 1 GOOD MB of RAM...nice nice...what graphic card does she have on that machine?...cause each card with more than 256Kb of ram wouldnt make any advantage...and would only slow down machine drastically... Go DOS3.1 goooooooooo...

No problem, I don't use paging files, it's not necessary with 512MB RAM and above, I've had this disabled for a long time.... Her machine runs superb! Her graphic card is built on the board, and works great also. She doesn't do any gaming, just internet and a few graphics programs......
