Hi guys!

What is the cheapest media available to be used with NEC 3500?

- I don't think it's difficlt to find great media that always work (=Verbatim) and I don't think it's difficult to find cheap media (but you risk that they suck). It do think that it is difficult to find the media that is cheapest possible AND always work. So your experiences and recommondations is very welcome!

Thanks!
Sincerely,
Sørensen

It doesn't mather much to me - just the best possible to the cheapest price.
(- But perhaps + is recommended for highest standalone DVD player compability? But don't think there is any big differnce..)

Thanks for your input!
I plan on using only the official firmware, but perhaps they will be good anyway..(?)

I use Datawrite Grey DVD-, and made by Fuji. I've burned some 100 Discs now and no coasters.
Work great with PS2 and movies of course. And the price is 25 discs for 13,99 Euro.

I buy here: http://www.ddvd.info/nl/

Here is a test: http://www.dvd-recordable.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=Reviews&file=index&req=showcontent&id=85

Other cheap discs i don't try, i don't like coasters. I also used Platinum + , they're also good, but not cheap.

Thanks for your replies!

- Do anybody have any experiences with the yellow "Budget" DVD-R's? (Made by Budget - not Princo).
Mediacode: INFOSMART0
See them here: http://www.nierle12.com/s01.php?sid=PG001003296152491629445491629445&cur=dkr&sp=dk&ag=1&pp=aa&bnr=2213

- I suspect that the printable Datawrite is just as good as the grey ones - am I right?

Thanks again!

Thanks again to everbody who replied.

I'll stay away from the Princo Budget then.

Instead I have ordered 100 grey Datawrite 8x speed DVD-R from www.wesellcd.com

Looking forward to backing up all my movies!

I just backed up 100 movies in 2 weeks with my new 3500A using no-label Ritek G05 8x -R's..no coasters. I havent flashed the fire ware yet, and it burned at x8. I'm happy with it.
I paid $40 per 100 at http://store.yahoo.com/blankcdcdr/gerig058xdvs.html
Right now they have a holiday special of $37 for 100 and free shipping. I think Im going to order 200 more.

The bad thing with "cheapest" media is that they don't have stable quality. Sometimes is desecd sometimes is not, that's why you can never be sure with them.

Hi Iggy,

Thats exactly what I mean!
- So perhaps you misunderstand my question a little bit. Beacuse what I seek is namely information about which STABLE QUALITY media is the cheapest. In other words which of the quality products are the cheapest - or which of the cheaper ones are good.

So if the answer were "only Verbatim is stable enough" then Verbatim is also the cheapest brand/product, that are recommended and alwys work. But I guess that after all a lot of less pricy media are also very good and stable. At the moment my money is on grey Datawrite 8x speed DVD-R - and hope they do the trick. :)

Sincerely,
Christian from Denmark
