D-Link device features priority technologies to minimise lag...

D-Link today announced what it claims is the world's first Gigabit Ethernet router designed specifically for gaming.

The firm's GamerLounge DGL-4300 wireless router features GameFuel technology, an intelligent packet processing engine which gives online games precedence for bandwidth over all other internet applications such as email and FTP transfers.

According to D-Link, the offering is the first router with four 1,000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet ports offering up to 108Mbps 802.11g wireless connectivity for Lan party and wireless Lan connections.

Optimised for PC, Xbox and Playstation 2 games, D-Link said that the device provides users with "no lag" gaming.

Steven Joe, president and chief executive at D-Link, said: "When playing an online game where every millisecond counts, gamers need the fastest router available to give them a competitive edge."
