China recorded more than 320 million subscribers to mobile phone services as of the end of October this year, equivalent to a penetration rate of 24.8 users per 100 persons, according to statistics released by China’s Ministry of Information Industry.

The number of mobile phone users in China increased by 55.08 million during January-October of this year. There were 176.06 billion messages sent from handsets in the 10-month period, a year-on-year hike of 62%.

China’s users of fixed-line telecommunication services also grew by 47.94 million in number from the end of 2003 to 635.72 million at the end of October this year, a penetration rate of 24.5 users per 100 persons.
