I have 4 CD ROMs and 3 Headphones sets. I cannot get any sound out of any headphone/CD ROM combination (plugging the headphone into the jack point on the front of the CD ROM).
What am I doing wrong?

You need to be on analog play (either by software NOT set to or capable of digital play, or by front panel button if available)

Have you adjusted the volume?

Hello,
Yes, I have the volume on full.
I have unticked the 'Enable digital...' check box.
Still no sound on headphones on front panel.
There is sound OK from the 'Sound out' jack at the back of the PC which is the output from the sound card.
Is there amplification at the front jack point?
Do I need powered headphones?
Do I need to disconnect the audio cable from the CD RW to the motherboard /Soundcard?
Cannot see any other things to adjust.

Supplementary
Thanks Matthew, have found it.
The digital/analogue tick box I found first was in Control Panel/System/Sound. That did not work
Scratching around in Media Player, found another tick box under Tools/Options/Devices/AudioCD Properties. This produced the result.
Been niggling me for over 12 months .Thanks.
Brian
