Visiting porn sites comes with a hefty price tag, namely Spyware. A new study conducted by Eblocs.com reveals that 98% of porn sites use some type of Spyware or Adware. The study entailed visiting 100 porn sites and running multiple anti-spyware software programs, including Spyblocs 3.0, to identify any Spyware contaminating the computers. The most prominent type of Spyware found was Data Miners, followed by Windows Exploit Trojans. To compound problems, 15% of the sites launch porn dialers. These dialers hijack computer modems and give access to porn sites by dialing high-cost long distance phone numbers, which rack up high phone bills.
The study also discovered that 95% of the porn sites install Spyware that creates pop-up ads that infiltrate computers at a later date. The most dangerous type of Spyware found on these sites is Browser Hijacks. This Spyware can cause computers to slow down to a crawl because the malicious downloaded content dominates system resources and bandwidth. Browser Hijacks are the most difficult type of Spyware to remove. New variants appear constantly, which makes it difficult to identify and remove them. Browser Hijacks can bring to a standstill any attempt to search or surf the Web without being redirected or hijacked.
While anyone with access to the Internet can visit porn sites, they should know that when doing so, Spyware is being installed on their computer. Gary Guseinov, CEO of Eblocs.com says, "People need to be aware of the fact that visiting porn sites is an open invitation to a wide variety of Spyware. The best solution is to stay off porn sites."
For those people who choose to continue to surf porn sites, in order to avoid plaguing their computers with Spyware, they need to have protection. For more details on the study and information on Spyware protection, please visit
