I'd like to maintain a list of such media from user feedback.

The branded Data-safe 24x seem to work perfectly we have sold a hell of a lot without complaint.

The 12x DataSafe media (Princo) works in my LiteOn 24x :)

Also discs from Prodisc, MMM&M/Moser Baer India, Ricoh, Kodak and Postech seem fine. Riteks seem to reduce to 20x, but hey I can live with that ;)

All of the above seem to work regardless of their rating. I have read them back on multiple players without problems.

If you live in the US the compusa generic 16x cd-r won't burn at 24x. The disc manufacturer is Lead Data.

ive butrnt some cdr's at 24x that are 16x rated (smart buy made by princo). you can easily see where the three zones of the cd's where burnt i assume this is normal. will these cd's last though?

The 3 zones are not affecting the writing quality of the burned CDs

ok, still looks rather strange when your used to one even burn on the bottom of the cdr.

sort of goes from dark at the middle of the cd to light at the edge.

I had a go at compiling a list from feedback in here (see my previous post).

I wonder if the Authority could maintain a more user-friendly one for us?

Of particular interest would be the little tricks to ascertain who the maker is before you buy!!!

I upgraded my TDK/Sanyo 24x with the 6.38 firmware then I went to office Max and they had 50 pk spindle of Imation/CMC Magnetics 16x Neon color CDR's for a great clearance price of $14 but when they scanned it their register only charged me $7 !!! That's really great 50 CDR's for only $7 . However the discs only burn at 16x :( . I was usign Padus DJ earlier when it seemed to record at 16x when set to 24 but then I used CDRwin and I think it burned at 24x , not sure what the story is there.
