Today America Online’s CEO announced that the company will split up forming three 3 groups and emphasized his new strategy to take on Yahoo.

The reorganization AOL creates three new units content and advertising, Internet access and fee-based services. The Internet Access unit will bring together AOLs Dial-up and Broadband unit which had previously been separate operations. The content and advertising unit will manage the advertising aspect of AOL and also take over AOL.com and try to get it to compete with Yahoo.com.

AOL also plans to fire 700 employees next month.
