Where are the good old writing quality tests with the results of C1 and C2-errors

Gone for good, and replaced with more accurate 3T Jitter graphs

Of course, 3T Jitter shows the absolute writing quality of the drive since it doesn't affected from media variation (possible physical defects of the drive, dust etc...) but only from the shape of the Pits/Lands.

High 3T Jitter values will cause problems when playback the disc at a stand alone CD players...

Interesting question, but i think not, since high C2 errors will lead to increased 3T Jitter ( High Jitter <-> High C1/C2 errors)

Well, I suppose this is probably the best way for testing the actual drive unit, since it will provide data less affected by bad media...I think. I'm still working on understanding the whole Jitter thing LOL!

Hey John, you mention that the BTC drive uses the mediatek chipset, but you don't mention whether or not CD Doctor will work with it. In the future would i be possible for you to update your CD Doctor work/not work list as you test new drives? I know that is more work then it sounds like, but it would make the drive 10 times more interesting for me (and probably other too!)

I think it won't work, but i have updated the CD Doctor thread:

Mitsumi CR-487TE (52/24/52)
TEAC CD-W548E (48/16/48)
TEAC CD-W552E (52/24/52)

Won't work with CD Doctor even include MediaTek chipsets
