I new to these forums and I read alot of people taling about WinHIIP. what does it do? I kind of a newb so don't talk to technical. I was also wondering would a USB thumb drive let me take games from my HDD so i can make more room?or do i have to use something else?

It basically will transfer images or discs from your PC to the PS2 HDD, when connected with PC

how do i connect it to my PS2, and do i transfer the files???

just connect the PS2 HDD as a normal HDD to the system

does that mean i have to take it out of my ps2?(sorry if its a stupid question I'm a noob to all this stuff)

Of course, alternative you can use the network cable to transfer games from PC->PS2 but i haven't tried this personally

i didn't see anything in the official winhiip thread, but didn't want to clutter up that thread with a newb question. i'm brand new to this thing, and haven't used hdloader/winhiip/anything else before, as i just got my network adapter and a hdd. is there a tutorial to using winhiip somewhere? i'm comfortable with all the hardware stuff, trasferring hdds and whatnot, but don't know that i'll have a clue when running the program, and don't want to break anything, or format my main pc hdd as a ps2, as i've read was possible in the other thread.

I rather post this here, since it relates to my question, hope you don't mind Shagy, anyhow.. I decided to ONCE again, retry installing Devil May Cry, but this time using WinHIIP, it actually seemed to install correctly on my PC, but now, how do I put it on my PS2 HDD? Because its a .RAR file named DVDIMAGE and with it, comes along a DVDIMAGE.MDS, but I thought to transfer it to my Ps2 HDD, It needed to be .ISO? Also, for these type of deals, do I need to MOD my PS2? Right now its Unmodded. Thanks In advance.

.rar is a compressed file like zip. in order to extract .rar you need a program to do it. that program is winrar you can download it here

in order to extract the files you open winrar find the file and click on the .rar file you will either see a .bin&.cue or a .img or an .iso which ever the case you right click hit extract to specified folder and then wait once it has extracted use WinHIIP to transfer that onto ur HDD
