I bought Verbatim 25 Pack Retail Spindle DVD+R (order number: 43248) for my 16X Philips DVDR1620K. I tried to burn DVDs, but I couldn't. I tried three different programs (NERO, NTI, Roxio) but all of them gave error messages about the DVDs and stopped burning. I tried to burn them at 4x speed. I tried both firmware version 2.1(original one) and 2.2 for my dvd writer. I sent an email to Verbatim and Philips and asked for help. Philips sent a reply and said that they don't have a compatible media list, so they can't help. Verbatim didn't send a reply. Below you can find the mail that I sent to Verbatim. It includes the error messages I got. Has anybody tested 16X Philips burner with 4x Verbatim media?

The mail that I sent to Verbatim:

Hi

I bought Verbatim 25 Pack Retail Spindle DVD+R (order number: 43248) for my 16X Philips DVDR1620K. I tried to burn DVDs, but I couldn't. I tried three different programs (NERO, NTI, Roxio) but all of them gave error messages about the DVDs and stopped burning. I tried to burn them at 4x speed. I tried both firmware version 2.1(original one) and 2.2 for my dvd writer. My dvd writer could write to very low quality and cheap DVDs, and I was very surprised to see that it couldn't write to your dvds, which are known as high quality dvds. Are your DVDs compatible with my writer? What should I do?

Regards,

Error logs of programs are as follows:

First I tried latest version of Roxio Media Creater 7. It gave me the error: 03/0c/00 "write error"

Then I uninstalled Roxio and installed latest version of NTI. It gave me the error

I would suggest to sent the drive back. This smells like a faulty one.

When I tried Nero, there were some ASP drivers, but after this problem, I tought that they might be the source of the problem, so I removed them by using ASPI remover utility of Nero, but it didn't solve the problem, Nero gave the same error.

Configuration of my PC is
Windows 2000 SP3
AMD Athlon 1800+
512Mb Ram
MSI KT3 Motherboard

Everything is up to date.

Update:

Yesterday I bought 4x Iomega DVD+R (CMC F01) and tried to write at 4x with last version of Nero (6.6.01). It could write to around %70 of the DVD and then gave the same error as before and exited.

I also mounted the burner to another computer with completly different specs. Again it couldn't write and gave the same error.
