Well, it's not really a problem, more like an annoyance called Turbo Mode. Does anyone know if there's firmware available that keeps the CRX320E drive locked in Turbo Mode? Maybe some liteon firmware could do the trick?

Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome to CDRinfo's Forum!

How about flashing the drive to LITE-ON SOHC-5232K firmware? Its only a suggestion, not sure.

As for hacked firmwares, there only one for region free.

I'm a little skeptical, but I'll try the lite-on firmware. Thanks for the help!

It'll need Flashfixing to enable it to be crossflashed, and you prefer to seek out the Codeguys patched f#version, with options to uprate +/-R reading from 8x to 12x/14x/16x.

3 versions, speedpatched accordingly.

NB. the 16x would start fast, ramp up fast, but is likely to shuffle badly at the end of a full burn - the fastes read, plus the worst quality area of the burn, can mean fearsome retries!
14x is a compromise between speed an keeping it together
12x should be achieved without to many problems, and is still 50% faster than standard - a pity it can't be P-CAV

Ok, I got the three patches.....1 each for 12x, 14x, and 16x. But, do they also patch the CD-R read and burn speed?

They are 5232K firmware (so no "Turbo" mode ... full speed for CD always enabled).

I believe they need flashfixing to allow them to crossflash the 320

The speed patch is to boost the read speed on recorded DVD media, which is otherwise a rather conservative 8x - on the other hand, if your DVD burns are hard to read (or you don't have a DVD writer), then there's no advantage in the speed boost for that - apart from that, it's stock firmware for the Liteon.

I believe you just use the latest RPC tool to change the region/reset the count or make the drive RPC1.

Ok, I downloaded both Flashfix 1.1.1.9 and OmniPatcher 1.3.14, but neither works with the 5232K.NK0A.patched-rs12x.exe firmware that I downloaded. Do I need to get the original firmware from liteon? HELLLLPPPP! :p

Flashfix also requires UPX.EXE to be in the directory, as the files are UPX packed.
And it does work on these files.

also works on the original Liteon files
