How can I enable nero to report the count of buffer underrun prevention? I see this option in file->preference but it's grayed out.

Maybe your recorder doesn't support this function?

I know my burner supports buffer underrun protection, but I don't know how to get Nero to report how many it's stopped, either.

I see it too in File --> Preferences --> Dialogs ; Also for me greyed out.....

Craig, will you enlighted how to enable this [?] As it would be a very useful feature for my testing in Nero (PlexTools also has a buffer-underrun counter).

It isn't greyed out for me, checked it long time ago, but never seen any reports...

But it could report 0 buffer underrun events too!
Probably I'll try to screw up a CD!

You'll need to edit the Registery.

Go to Regedit and under HKEY_CURENT_USER go to Software->Ahead->Nero-Burning Rom->General

And for SHOWBURNPROOFCOUNT, change the variable to 1.

Do the same under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

PS. Make sure Nero is closed before you do this.

I don't suppose you could provide us with what the different values of each string in the registry does? most of them are fairly easy to tell, but there a couple I'm not sure of. thanks for the help!!

This would take some time, which is something I do not have a lot of. [V]

And even I do not know all the variables, so I would have to get this from various Engineers in Germany.

I will do this eventually, but not any time soon. As with the new year I have a lot on my plate, as do our Engineers. A number of new products are on the table to be released this year. So the load is heavy for everyone at Ahead currently.

Sorry I could not provide this immediately, as it would be nice to have. Even I would like to have that.

hi, call me crazy, i need to burn cds w/o the burn proof in nero 6.3.0.3 with an MSI 48x24x48 IDE, could anyone tell me the registry key to add/modify to un-gray out the burn-proof option in nero?

If this option is "greyed" out in Nero, then burnproof is not working or available on the particular drive.

Tnx for answering, but trust me burn proof is supported what i need to do is to turn it off, the recorder is an CR48-A2 (MS-8348S). I need to un-tick it so i can record with speed beyond 16x, i tested the recorder with "Burn4Free" withput underrun protection and works fine, so the trouble is Nero.

Not sure on that one, perhaps Craig can post back and let you know, I can enable or disable it with my NEC2500, LiteOn SOHW-812S, Optorite DD0201 and DD0401, so perhaps he has the answer.

Are you using Nero 5.5 or Nero 6?

If you have the Retail version of Nero, go to Nero Burning ROM, and under Recorder->Choose Recorder click on the OPTIONS button in the bottom left of the Choose Recorder window. And this will bring up the option to disable Buffer Underrun protection feature of your recorder.
