Hey guys!!!

Just a quick question...from the posts I've been reading lately, there have been a lot of reading problems with the NEC 3500A (specially with DVD-R discs). Would this be firmware related or drive related???I'm just about to get the NEC myself but have stalled due to these problems arising.

Also how would you guys rate the Plextor drives in general (as I know the PX-716A isnt out yet)...are they good readers/writers???? Any comments??? Thanx!!!

I have no problems with ND-3500a! neither reading or writing!

Could this possibly be media related??? Like poor quality DVD's??? I personally only use Verbatim.

I have not experienced a single problem reading/writing either, and I tried it with a few scratched Retail DVD's...

I haven't tried DVD-R yet, I have just been using Memorex DVD+R's, and have had no trouble with them either.

I've had the drive for a few weeks now, got the latest Official firmware I think (2.17) and can say that I've had no problems with DVD+R's BUT...
have had alot of trouble trying to burn with DVD-R's
The discs I am using are Verbatim Brand 4x,8x and upwards and for some reason when I use a DVD-R with Nero the burning process hangs at 1% with the disc still spinning, it's as if it cannot initiate the process properly. I am then forced to hard shut down my p.c because I am unable to log off, restart, end process' etc.
Burning with DVD+R perfect

, with DVD-R the exact opposite :p

Anyway able to shed any light on this problem? ^_^'

Edit: Forgot to add the drive is set as a secondary slave.
