I have a Panasonic PVDV-701. Can you offer a link to the cable I should be using with this camcorder? I do not believe it is a cable problem, simply because this does work, the first time you connect it. Then it never works again. This is a known issue, but the MS fix does not fix. It merely produces another error by finding a device that has no driver. If I moved the card to another slot, it will work again, once. It seems to be some sort of an initialization problem that occurs after the first initialization.
Right now, I am trying to get it to work in XP. This uses the generic OHCI compliant driver that comes with XP, and is not able to use a TI driver. However, I tried using the TI driver in Win2k, and had similar issues. It worked more often, but has intermittent trouble, and locked up several times, using different capture software.
I feel like picking up a cheap used Mac to capture, and then move the file to a PC
I am up to 28 DV tapes now. When I bought the camcorder I figured I would not need that many because I could capture, burn to dvd, and erase the tape. So far, thats about $170 in tapes because I can't get this to work.
