VeriSign has partnered with i-SAFE America in a new effort to protect kids from online predators posing as other kids. The i-Stik, based on VeriSign's Unified Authentication Tokens, carries the student's age and gender information while keeping their identity confidential, allowing students access to age-specific chat rooms. Any i-Stik reported lost or stolen would be immediately deactivated. So far, the program is being adopted by six schools in the nation, and will make its way into thousands of schools starting in Spring 2005. Students can pick up one for no charge by simply registering with i-SAFE during the enrollment process.
