....Goin by what I have just read about "session fixation errors"...I tend to believe your burner is NFG! (no good!)
You could Try differnt burning software and or change the media you use....if that doesnt work, its probably hardware related!!

I have successfully burned some CDs before with this hardware. It is recently that the error started to show up.

Diffinatly change the media to a different type, just for testing purposes. I had a spindal of memorex once and about 15 out of 50 wouldn't burn in my mother's Creative 12x10x32x, we thought it was the burner at first, but tried some other media and it worked fine. We later found more CD-Rs from that spindal that did work...but we regretted using them later!

i have had many problems with memorex media, particularly the ones with the white labels. sometimes, even if they burn with no errors, you still can't read from them a week later.

At this point, it was only checking to see if media was in the drive, and if the recorder was ready. It did finally bull through it, but this is a good indication of problems.

It could be poor media.
To much demand on systems resources.(though this does not look to be the case in your instance as you have plenty of free memory)
To large a demand on your CPU. Not likely, but close any programs in the background. You can use EndItAll for this. And do not use the Nero Wizard.
It could be cables to the Recorder
It could be old drivers for the IDE controller
Or it could be driver conflicts, which I suspect is more like based on all the known conflicting drivers you have on your system. Try renaming the below drivers to .bac extensions:

PS. Try to recover your CD by placing it in the Recorder, go to Nero's Recorder>Medium Info and if the session is not properly closed, select the session and in the bottom left of this window an option to Close Session or Close CD will appear. Choose Close Session. Or close CD if you do not intend to add to the CD later.

If you want to be helped, you should reply to previous suggestions before posting more questions.

So did you try different brands of media?

Returning to basics: What is the brand and model of your burner? Is it inside your PC or in a FireWire enclosure? Didn't you start using any FireWire external device recently? Are you running Win98 or 98SE (I don't remember what 4.10 means)?

But maybe the answer is simpler. The two drivers in your log

indicate that you installed Adaptec/Roxio's UDF Reader on Dec. 1, i.e., a week before your first post! So first, going to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS, change the extension .vxd to .vx_ for these drivers: Acbhlpr.vxd, Cdr4vsd.vxd, Cdralvsd.vxd, Cdudf.vxd, Cdudfrw.vxd and Cdrpwd.vxd, and reboot to see if this helps (if not, rename also Scsi1hlp.vxd to Scsi1hlp.vx_ as suggested by CCampbell.

As for your questions, don't bother about closing your CD unless you want to retrieve the data burned there, and in general Nero gives you more options than Nero Wizard.

Using the Wizard takes up more CPU processing, and has less User Control.

Closeing the Session will allow you to read the data from the CD, and tell us if more occured than simply the Lead-In and Lead-out not being written. But it will allow you to write to the CD again.

Closing the CD will prevent any future writes to the CD, but will also allow you to read or access the data you had written to the CD.

Craig, I have tried to close the CDs that did not burn completely, but when I put the cd in Nero 5.5.9.17, Nero freezes. is there a reason why I can't close the sessions?

Hi Ning,

Did you try the suggestions in the previous Emails?

If you have, and the CD's Session can not be closed, then the write had seriuos problems, not just a problem with closing the session.

I would suspect the Recorder does need service. [V]
