Is there any reason to avoid DVD media branded by Staples, Office Depot, and etc.?
This will be my first set that I am buying.

I cannot say if you should or not avoid them, it depends from what media they are selling

Staples is Optodisc last I checked. That means that it depends highly on what burner you have for if it will work ok.
