Too right! The only software with a good reason for auto-update is an antivirus. For anything else, I'd much rather read the release notes, and see what's fixed, what's added, and most importantly, what's broken - or at least not the same as it used to be. The other reason for auto update, is a cop-out ... we realeased it full of bugs, lets quietly clear them up and hope nobody notices. One other reason to have auto-update (though I doubt it applies to Nero) is so that incremantal updates can be delivered, instead of downloading the same lump you would for a complete install - however, since Nero 5.5, there have been no "updates", just a solid lump that is both a demo install, a registerable download, and an update over a current installation.
