The Microsoft Windows operating system (OS) takes a lot of criticism regarding its security and stability. Some of it is just marketing hype from the competition or media hype, but some of it is true. For many people the question becomes, what choice do I have? There are a couple answers- Mac OS X and Linux primarily. Linux is generally available for free and works with your existing PC hardware though while using Mac OS X would require a significant investment in hardware to switch to so it may be worth a look. Rickford Grant helps you get over your fears and past the learning curve to use the Linux OS effectively with this book.
