A total of 810 fixes and updates are present in Windows XP Service Pack 2, according to
a list released by Microsoft.
By far the greatest number of fixes and updates are to networking aspects of XP - over 150 fixes and updates are listed.
There are also 138 fixes for the base operating system and close to a hundred are listed as security fixes.
Windows XP, it may be recalled, was touted as the most secure Windows ever when it was first released in 2001.
Other items in the fix list include Internet Explorer, management and administration, the Windows shell, Outlook Express, multimedia, COM+, IIS, general, MDAC, Media Centre edition, printing, program compatibility, Remote Desktop, RPC, setup, video, Windows Management Instrumentation, and the Windows Preinstallation Environment.
A little over 60 fixes are put under the category "other".
