zero errors on NERO CD speed says nothing. Since Nero cd speed isn't a very good program for checking the quality of a disc. I have seen bad disc's passing though it.

I can't find anything about CMC & SONY.

It is
(Companny & production line)
Mitsubishi Chemicals & CMC
SONY & Leaddata.
Mitsui & Prodisc.

Very true, since I obtained some Verbatim 8CM "Coloured" recordables hoping for Mitsubishi Chem, but I was unhappy to find out that they were infact CMC made [:(!]...

I have some sonys from about a year or so ago, and a new spindle i just bought. I did check them, but I forgot who makes them. It wasn't ricoh or TY tho. I think CMC, but not sure. In any case, the yamaha won't record them faster than 16x when "use best write speed" is enabled. To me that says the discs arent that good. It writes TY at 44x with UBWS enabled. But for $5 after rebates for 50, they make good throw away transpot media.
