OpenGL 3D Support and Photo Editing Software It can be switched into 2D mode for spreadsheets and Web surfing, but the newest LCD monitor from Sharp Systems of America is an eye-popping platform for CAD, entertainment, medical imaging, GIS mapping, and other applications -- the LL-151-3D displays 3D images with no special glasses required. Drawing on the same technology as the liquid-crystal shutter glasses and page sequential display mode used for OpenGL 3D imaging with products like Nvidia's Quadro workstation graphics cards, the $1,499 monitor uses a parallax barrier to divide light so different images reach the viewer's left and right eyes. The brain naturally interprets the image disparity so a user centered in front of the screen sees a realistic 3D visualization of complex geometry. The 15-inch XGA (1,024 by 768) flat panel offers 370 nits of brightness, a 500:1 contrast ratio, and built-in stereo speakers, as well as both analog and digital inputs and sRGB color management for 2D applications. The height-adjustable monitor comes with a software bundle including SmartStereo Photo Editor and SmartStereo Camera Calculator to help users create their own 3D images. Source : HardwareCentral
