this is mostly regarding Verbatim - but it can apply to others as well

do the disks made in japan come in a specific package type? - Where have they been found

i have been to all the shops in the area that sell disks - compusa, bestbuy, circuit city, walmart, etc . and every one of these shops only had Verbatims made in tiwan -- 50pk cake dish (verbatim data life) and 25 packs of the movie reel type and 10 packs of the movie reel type -- all of them made in tiwan -- (the only package types ive seen)

even the TDK s i was fond of - i was suprised to see made in tiwan

so my question is is there a specific package type that contain the made in Japan disks

You won't likely ever find Verbatim made in Japan. Some Fuji DVDRs are made in Japan (Taiyo Yuden) but usually the smaller more expensive packs.

Some TDK is made in Japan (Armor Plated). Some Sony is made in Japan as well.

Where I live (USA) ALL of the Fuji's are TY made in Japan, even the 100 packs. I buy these on a regular basis, because first of all they are TY, and secondly, they are inexpensive here as well.

Wow! that's pretty sweet! Almost all of the Fuji stock here in Canada is not made in Japan, only the 5 and 10 paks.

Fuji media that says made in Japan on it, is made by Taiyo Yuden, yes.

As for Verbatim, in the very RARE instance that you may find a made in Japan disc, it will most likely be Taiyo Yuden, but Verbatim doesn't use Taiyo Yuden very often, and it would more likely be in Europe then in North America. Verbatim has 4 main plants now:
India -> MBIL
Taiwan -> CMC
Singapore -> Real Mitsubishi Media!
Mexico -> I think this one is CMC too? but I forget now

Verbatim is famous for sub contracting out to other manufacturers so some might be taiwanese made.
